Welcome to the Rhe-Anna Pato Foundation, a place where dreams turn into action and hope transforms into sustainable, lasting change. Established in 2024 in honor of Rhe-Anna Angelica Leiwan Kapaitch Pato (1995-2023), the foundation exists to uplift the people of Papua New Guinea (PNG) by empowering individuals, building critical infrastructure, and providing access to the most essential resources—clean water, reliable electricity, and education.


At the heart of the foundation’s work is the belief that lasting change begins with people. By equipping individuals—men, women, and children alike—with the tools they need to succeed, we are creating stronger, more resilient communities. Through leadership training, infrastructure development, and renewable energy initiatives, we aim to address the core needs of PNG’s rural areas and beyond, empowering them to thrive now and for generations to come.

Our Story and Purpose

Rhe-Anna Angelica Leiwan Kapaitch Pato had dreams far bigger than herself. She saw a world where no woman or child in Papua New Guinea would be left without hope, opportunity, or the means to rise above hardship. She believed in a future where clean water, education, and dignity were not privileges, but rights.


But life is cruelly unpredictable. In 2023, Rhe-Anna’s journey was cut short before she could bring her dreams to life. The people she longed to help—the communities she envisioned lifting—were left waiting. Her voice was silenced, but her vision was not meant to die with her.


Heartbroken but determined, her parents, Joyce and Rimbink Pato, refused to let her light fade. Through grief, they found purpose. The Rhe-Anna Pato Foundation was born—not as a replacement for her, but as a promise to carry forward what she never had the chance to finish.


Today, the foundation works in some of Papua New Guinea’s most overlooked and forgotten communities, ensuring that clean water flows where it never has, that renewable energy reaches homes trapped in darkness, that children learn with books instead of bare hands, and that women—so often unheard—find their voices and their strength.

Rhe-Anna didn’t get to finish what she started. But with every life changed, every barrier broken, her dream lives on.


This is more than aid. This is love. This is legacy. This is Rhe-Anna’s unfinished story, still being written.

    The Rhe-Anna Pato Foundation is dedicated to strengthening communities across Papua New Guinea by focusing on five essential areas that foster sustainable growth and resilience:

    Women’s Empowerment

    Educational Infrastructure

    We believe that women are the backbone of every community. Our Women’s Empowerment Initiative will provide leadership training, educational opportunities, and economic support to women in rural PNG. Through skill-building workshops and mentorship, we aim to help women gain the confidence and resources they need to become leaders in their families and communities. Our Wapenamanda Women’s Empowerment and Resource Centre will serve as a space for women to learn, share, and grow, offering training in financial literacy, small business management, healthcare, and nutrition.

    Quality education is essential for community development. Through our Educational Infrastructure Program, we will build classrooms, community halls, and learning centres to create safe, supportive learning environments for children in rural PNG. Our multi-purpose facilities will provide educational opportunities for all ages, serving as schools and spaces for adult education and community meetings.

    Renewable Energy Initiatives

    Good health is a cornerstone of vibrant communities. Our Health Initiatives focus on improving access to essential healthcare and strengthening health infrastructure in remote areas of Papua New Guinea, addressing critical gaps in resources and knowledge. By supporting the development of local clinics, equipping them with essential medical supplies, and building resilience in rural healthcare, we aim to create a stronger healthcare foundation. Additionally, we emphasize preventive care through education on maternal health, child wellness, nutrition, and disease prevention. These efforts will empower communities with the knowledge and resources to make informed health choices, fostering long-term resilience and a higher quality of life.

    Renewable Energy Initiatives

    Reliable energy is key to improving quality of life. Our Solar Energy Initiative will bring clean, renewable energy to isolated areas in PNG, providing solar-powered solutions for homes, schools, and health centres. Access to solar energy will allow children to study after dark, support healthcare facilities, and create opportunities for economic development, contributing to sustainable growth and self-sufficiency.

    Access to clean water is fundamental for health and quality of life. Through our WASH Projects, we will implement sustainable, clean water solutions in communities across rural PNG. These initiatives aim to reduce waterborne diseases and ensure that residents have reliable access to safe water, improving public health and enhancing quality of life. Our efforts will empower communities to focus on growth and development by meeting their essential needs.

    Rhe-Anna Pato was a woman of vision, passion, and dedication. Her dream was to see the people of Papua New Guinea rise—especially women and children—by giving them access to the resources and opportunities they deserve. Today, through the Rhe-Anna Pato Foundation, her dream is becoming a reality.


    Through our work, we are ensuring that Rhe-Anna’s legacy lives on in the communities we serve. Every project we undertake, every life we touch, is a reflection of her belief in the power of people to create their own change. Her legacy of hope and empowerment will continue to inspire and transform lives for generations to come.

    A Message from Her Parents, Joyce and Rimbink Pato

    Our daughter Rhe-Anna was the light of our lives, a soul full of kindness, strength, and purpose. She was our hope, our reason, and our future. From the moment she entered this world, we knew she was special—her compassion reached far beyond our family, especially for those often overlooked. She carried within her the dreams of countless women and children who longed to be seen, heard, and valued.


    Though Rhe-Anna is no longer with us, her spirit lives on through the work of the Rhe-Anna Pato Foundation. This foundation is her legacy—a tribute to her life and the ideals she held dear. Every woman empowered, every child educated, every life touched through this work reflects her vision. We carry forward the work she dreamed of, honoring her every day and ensuring she continues to bring hope and uplift those she cared so deeply about.


    For us, this foundation is our way to live through her dreams, her heart, and her voice, woven into every project, every initiative, and every life changed. Rhe-Anna may not be here to lead this mission, but she remains our guiding light, forever present in the heart of every community uplifted, every woman empowered, and every child given a chance to dream.
